The College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences at Radford University is committed to preparing students to be well-equipped to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Departments in the college fulfill a dual mission:

First, departments provide students with the skills, knowledge and perspectives they will need to become specialists in disciplines in the humanities and behavioral and social sciences. Graduates thereby enter the work force and begin post-graduate studies as skilled and knowledgeable professionals.

Second, they provide students with a well-rounded liberal arts background. This foundation in the liberal arts prepares students to approach situations with confidence in their abilities to communicate, think critically, solve problems, and work with others. It also enables them to become the kinds of caring and informed citizens who will make important and lasting contributions to their communities and society.
